Serengeti National Park

What Makes The Serengeti So Special

The Serengeti ecosystem is a geographical region in northern Tanzania, bordering Kenya, Lake Victoria, and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. It’s also a UNESCO-listed World Heritage national park that offers year-round safari adventures.

The wonder and excitement of a Serengeti safari can be enjoyed in the low season when fewer tourists crowd the majestic landscapes. From June to October, the Great Wildebeest Migration crosses back and forth over the Mara River, a spectacular sight, but also the busiest time of the year. Marvel at cheetah on termite mounds surveying the landscapes for prey, elephant herds on vast plains, and other fantastic wildlife. Explore more about the top places to visit in Tanzania.

Getting to the Serengeti

The best option for access to the Serengeti is for international flights to land at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Depending on the time of day you arrive, you may be able to connect with a small plane into the Serengeti from Kilimanjaro. If not, you may need to stay overnight in Arusha, which is a 90min drive from Kilimanjaro Airport.

Flights to the Serengeti depart daily from both Kilimanjaro Airport and Arusha Airport. Due to the vast size of the Serengeti, there are a number of different airstrips that service the entire area. The plane will land at the airstrip closest to your camp, but be advised that there may be stops at airstrips along the way to collect or drop off other guests.
